Adobe Lightroom Is Now Available on Android (But Only Phones)

Months after it became available for iOS, Adobe has announced that its Lightroom photo-editing software is now available for Android phones, too.

The new software requires a handset running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or later, a minimum 1.7GHz quad-core CPU, and Adobe recommends you have at least 8GB of free space on your device if things are to run smoothly. Eek. As with the iOS, the app is free to download but you need to sign in with a Creative Cloud log-in. You can't do everything in the app that you can on a desktop, obviously, with the mobile software limited to pretty much the Basic Panel and cropping tools. But it does provide a means to take your edits on the road without lugging a laptop with you.

It seems a little strange that the software is currently just limited to phones and not tablets, especially given the extra room would surely make Lightroom more pleasant to use. But at least if you use Android you now have a mobile option for using Lightroom. [Adobe, Google Play]
